How to resolve Windows Server 2008 issue?
Actually I just forotten the Administrator password for Windows Server 2008. To resolve that problem I had connected the Primary hard disk to another system of operating system Win XP. Aftre that I deleted the SAM and the SAM.LOG from C:\Windows\System32\Config. After that reconnect the Harddisk in the Server and reboot the server but now its showing some Fatal error. Any one please help me out to resolve this problem as I can't format the server because there are very important data on desktop.

Hello, connect again to another computer and copy all requried data to USB drive or the machine and starting new seems the only solution. Don't know who was giving you that crappy advice to delete the SAM. You can try to use the windows server installation disk to repair it !!!BUT BEFORE MAKE A COPY OF THE DISK!!! or copy the data to another machine. Maybe this article help for the repair option: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserversetup/thread/cd3d665f-3d95-4617-946d-55d8c03448fe/Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi, If you forgot the administrator password and the computer has not been added to a domain, there will no way to get the password back. By the way, what you did is not supported by Microsoft. In addition, you can perform Meinolf’s suggestion to back up your important data and then perform a reinstallation. Thanks for your understanding. Best Regards, Vincent Hu
