Hello, We have just converted our PDC to a Workgroup. What procedure is used to reset all folder permissions back to default, or factory? Sincerely, Johnathon

Hi Desktop works, Thank you for posting in windows server forums, i would like you to eloborate on your request of resetting folder permissions, can you mention are you looking for any specific folders ?Questions: -- What partition does your Operating system resides ( FAT / NTFS ) ?-- I have read that performing system state restore will reset the folder permissions ( NTFS ) -- But also you can try with cacls.exe utility to reset the permissions of system directories.Workaround--------------Dumpacl utilty which will dump the permissions of the folder of both administrators and non-administrators -- You can use this utility on fresh windows 2003 installation and manually reset the permission on demoted PDC.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc750018.aspxMore Info======Below link gives a understanding of files and folder permissions ( though this might be for windows 2000 , you can use for reference ) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727008.aspxsainath !analyze

Hi, Thanks for responding. It is a second hard drive in the system used just for user data, NTFS, I would like to just reset the permissions on this drive back to default if that is possible. I'll check out your links. Thank you! Johnathon
