How to reboot the Windows 2008 Server remotely
Hi I have list of Windows Server 2008,Windows Server 2008 R2.I want to reboot the servers from remote location . I mean from any one of these 2008 server. I have rebooted the 2003 servers using Shutdown /r but the same command is not working.I have tried shutdown /g also. I have logged in as Local Admin and tried and tried reboot the Server not working I have logged in as domain Admin and tried reboot the Server not working I tried this also runas /user:servername\username "Shutdown /r /f"

I have tried to give this but it is not working - (shutdown /r /f /t 00 /m \\hostname ) This is working in Windows Server 2003 but it is not working in Windows Server 2008. For windows Server 2008 I have used Shutdown /g also but it is not working.

Hi TamizhEzham, Thank you for your post. Please perform steps below to troubleshooting: 1.Ensure you use remote server administrators rights account to run shutdown command 2.Run command gpedit.msc to open Group Policy: Computer Configuration--Windows Settings--Security Settings--Local Policies--User Rights Assignment--Force shutdown from a remote system, check its value include administrators 3.Test to Run shutdown /r locally on remote server 4.Find the system event log about remote shutdown failed, post them to us for analysis If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.Regards, Rick Tan

Right-click on command prompt run as administrator then shutdown /r BR, Khemarin SetKhemarin333@hotmail.com
