How to place same shortcut on desktop for RDS users?

We have a Group Policy in force for a Windows 2008R2 Terminal Server in a separate OU. We use our Windows 2012R2 domain Controller for Group Policy Management. The users that login to the Terminal Server only need access to one application and we want to provide them a shortcut to it and/or a pinned program option on the taskbar. We have already cleared their start menus, taskbar, etc.  as part of the lockdown. Right now that shortcut is on the desktop but they could delete it -so I guess inability to do that would also be an option but would rather learn how to provide the shortcut in case we hava another application thye need to use.

As a side, we would also like to remove the Recycle Bin from their RDS desktop but the option we found in GPMT does not seem to have any affect.

Thank you!

Hi Porbar,

Thanks for posting here, if you depoly the shortcut to the users, then the users would be able to delete the shortcut. It is a expected behavior, because they had the read and write permission on it.

For the hide the Recycle Bin from RDS desktop you use the GPMC to configure it, please help to check if the gpo got applied. You can run the gpresult/ r to have a check.

Also you can check the below document for details about how to hide the recycle bin:

Hope it helps.
