How to move a VM that has attached a PassThru Drive (physical drive)

Hello guys,

I have a dilema. I need to move several VMs from one hyper-v host (2012) to another host (2012 R2), but some of these VMS have attached a physical drive. It seems like it is not possible.

Is there any way to do that, please?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Gabriel

Hello again and thanks for replying.

I've done the following:

1. turning off the vm

2. i've create a new vhdx disk as a copy of the physical drive that was attached to my VM

3. i've created a new vm that of which disk is the new disk i've created

The problem is now that the original VM has no physical disk attached to it and ofcourse it doesn't start.

What have i done wrong, please?

Thank you.

I've tried the disk2vhd but it didn't worked.

Now all i want is to make the original VM work again. I can see the LUN drive attached, it is offline, i can start the VM, but as soon as the OS (2008R2) starts, i get a blue like in the attached image.

What can i do?

Thanks again.
