I want to monitor network devices that are not in the list of devices supported by SCOM.
It's possible to import a MIB to SCOM or is there any solution to monitor network devices not supported?
Thank you,
Rui
Hi Rui
What do you mean by not supported?
If the device is not on the extended monitoring capability list, you can still discover and monitor it out of the box. You just don't get full monitoring options.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212728.aspx
"Operations Manager can monitor network devices that support SNMP, and can provide port monitoring for devices that implement interface MIB (RFC 2863) and MIB-II (RFC 1213) standards.
Operations Manager provides more detailed processor or memory monitoring for some network devices, which are listed in the Network Devices with Extended Monitoring Capability spreadsheet. The devices worksheet includes processor and memory columns for each device to indicate whether Operations Manager can provide extended monitoring for either or both aspects for each device."
You can extend monitoring yourself:
Regards
1) For network devices, supports by SCOM, SCOM has built-in monitor . the only thing you should do is using discovery wizard to discover device and SCOM automatic apply related monitors such as CPU, memory usage to the device.
2) For network devices, not supports by SCOM, you should use discovery wizard to discovery network device and then create your own monitor, no pre-built monitor.
Moreover, SCOM does not supports MIB import.
