Hi, As far as I know, with Disk Manager, you can convert a disk from dynamic to basic without clear the data. Before you change a dynamic disk back to a basic disk, note that all existing volumes must be deleted from the disk before you can convert it back to a basic disk. If you want to keep your data, back up the data, or move your data to another volume. For more information, you can refer to: How To Convert to Basic and Dynamic Disks in Windows XP Professional http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309044 Best Regards, Vincent Hu

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc776315(WS.10).aspx Back up all volumes on the disk you want to convert from dynamic to basic. For more information about backing up volumes, see Related Topics. Open Computer Management (Local). In the console tree, click Computer Management (Local), click Storage, and then click Disk Management. Right-click each volume on the dynamic disk you want to convert to a basic disk, and then click Delete Volume for each volume on the disk. When all volumes on the disk have been deleted, right-click the disk, and then click Convert To Basic Disk.
