How to get back OEM license keys
We recently purchased a VLS with the anticipation of upgrading older laptops to windows 7. The license type is MAK. All was well with the older laptops. We then purchased 80 laptops from HP with windows 7 professional. We were not going to install all of our school software on each machine (crazyness). So our first mistake was we rebuilt one laptop with the VLS software, which was no problem. We then created a master image to re-image the remaining 79 units. What we discovered was that each unit consumed an activation count. So we blew all of our activation keys on units that already had paid for OEM keys. Question 1... Should we have created the master from an already activated OEM unit? Question 2... Is there anyway to get back our VLS keys? Question 3.. What approach should we have used? In a school we reimage frequently.

Hello, You have reimage rights so you can reimage the machines that shipped with an OEM image and use Volume licensing if the edition is the same. You will need to call however and get additional activations added to your MAK key to address the scenarioThanks, Darrell Gorter This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
