How to find true memory use
Hi Whether it is win 7 or windows 2008 r2 using the task manager or the resource monitor, the memory entries do not add up to be anything like that indicated in use. This has frustrated me for a long time so am asking : >> What tool can be used to show true memory use inside an OS ? In the example below, the totals would be lucky to add to 1G, it is an 8G machine (2008 r2) using 99% of physical memory. I have used procexp, same overall effect as task manager. Thanks !!

Thanks Guys The RAMMap tool is the easiest to follow. May explain why a file server i have is nearly using all the ram when it has not hogging process like SQL! The MSDN article is more slanted to memory issues which i do not have, rather want to know where it has gone. Also it has lots of references to win 2000, i assume a few changes have been made by 2008 R2, but still has value. Regards
