How to find out the DNS names or...
I have been given a VPS running on a Windows Web Server 2008 with the message "Install this website and make it work".
Well, the issue is I am not really an expert (understatement) on this. I located the IIS manager and install the web, it appears to be working locally. Now I am facing the DNS issue that I need to change at my registrar. My registar requires a name (not an
IP) how can I solved this issue ? How do I know if there is some sort of DNS installed on that server ? It may sounds basic for an expert but I am sort of lost on this.

I'd ask IIS questions here.

Done, I thought it was more server related than IIS but if you say so, thanks

Yes, you do have to resolve the DNS portion of this to allow for internet users to access the web server. You have two options...use your registrar's DNS service, or run your own external accessible DNS server(s). I would recommend
that for moat implementations (especially if its not Enterprise in size), you take advantage of the services provided by your registrar. For instance, if you registered the domain name with Network Solutions, or GoDaddy, they provide you with DNS
managment. This is where you would create the DNS records such as domain.com and/or
www.domain.com. You then simply point these two records to your web server's public IP address. If you have a mail server, you would create an A records as well as MX record to point to the public
IP address of your mail system. So on, and so on.
If you want to host your own DNS, its a bit more complicated, but can be done as well.
