How to disable .exe files on a server
Hi I have a file server on which i give access for users to store their files. Unfortunately, users are saving .exe files on the computer and these executable files are causing virus issues. Is there any way that I can block all .exe files from being executed? Also I want to put all .exe files into single folder and allow only them to execute after the user provides a valid justification to run those exe files.

The following recommendations might help you: Enforce File Screening in File Server Resource Manager (requires File Server role) and restrict users to save files with .exe extension — http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772675(WS.10).aspx enforce Software Restriction Policies to prevent unwanted software from launching — http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457006.aspx My weblog: http://en-us.sysadmins.lv PowerShell PKI Module: http://pspki.codeplex.com Windows PKI reference: on TechNet wiki
