How to configure RPC over an IPSEC tunnel using IP Security Policies
Hi, I have a requirement for two Windows servers to talk RPC (Microsoft DTC in this case) through a Firewall. I also want to secure and authenticate the communication. I wanted to use a point-to-point IPSEC tunnel for the communication, but don't understand how to correctly identify RPC traffic and ensure it uses the tunnel. I am using IP Security Policies MMC Snap-in to define the IPSEC tunnel. Is what I am trying to achieve possible? I don't want to have to tie the RPC to fixed ports in the registry, and really want to leverage the encryption and authentication benefits of a point-to-point IPSEC tunnel. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben; Have you had any luck trying to get RPC tunneling to work using IPSEc? I have the same type of requirement now. Please let me know Thanks Stephen
