I wan to know if there is any limitation about length of vhd/vhdx file path in hyper-V vm.

I want to create a vm using Hyper-V manager which has a vhd/vhdx file having path length more then 260 characters.

Also if we can create such a vm then can VSS writers supports backup and restore for same

I'm afraid it could not be achieved.

As far as I know, the limitation is 260 characters.

For example, the maximum path on drive D is "D:\some 256-character path string<NUL>".

"<NUL>" represents the invisible terminating null character for the current system codepage. (The characters < > are used here for visual clarity and cannot be part of a valid path string.)
