How to Download Security Patches
Why is it so difficult lately to find the security patches to download from Microsoft lately? To be clearer what I mean is when ever I go to a bulletin to download a MS patch it states to use Windows Update or update management software.
Well ... what if you don't have internet connectivity on that server nor the ability to deploy software during the day with your "update management software"? In this case I have the patch already installed but our security scanning software, Foundstone
says it is not and has a vulnerability ticket open that we have to resolve.
I don't like to wait a day between troubleshooting steps ....!
I cannot believe the responses I've seen to other forum questions on this same topic. "Setup a WSUS server ...". Why should I have to setup a WSUS server when all I want to do is get one patch for troubleshooting purposes?

Hi,
If your computer does not have the internet connection, you can download the security patch from another computer which has the internet connection from
Microsoft Download Center
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/NoResults.aspx?displaylang=en-US&freetext=poolmon.exe. After that, you can copy the downloaded package to your computer with no internet connection and install it manually.
If you have already installed the update but Foundstone still reports it has not been installed, then you should first confirm whether the update is
installed by using the following method:
Open Control Panel, open Programs and Features, open view installed updates. If the update is listed, we can conclude the update is installed and Foundstone
reports incorrectly. You should contact McAfee to troublehsoot the Foundstone issue.
