How search results are getting sorted SharePoint 2013
I am using Enterprise Search in SharePoint 2013. I want to know how search results are sorted by default. Like if I have a SharePoint site with title "ABC" and document in library with same title as "ABC" then when I search for ABC in search box the result displayed at top is the site with title ABC followed by the documents with same title or content.

I am confused how these are sorted. I am using default search no customization.

Please help!

Manish

SharePoint uses an internal ranking model by default to sort results.  Here is some detailed info on how ranking occurs. Here is a little higher level description.

Hi,

From your description, you want to know about SharePoint 2013 search ranking, take a look at the following article:

Thanks for the suggestion. Good article on ranking.

But can you please tell why a SharePoint site with same title is displayed at the top of results rather than the documents with same title.

Do sharepoint site has more weighatge that the documents?

Thanks!
