How does one create a client authentication user certificate using a Windows 2003 standalone CA?
It is my understanding that this is this is the Windows Server general forum. My question is related to Windows 2003 Server. I am trying to create a user certificate using a Windows 2003 standalone CA. I am currently using Juniper Steel-Belted Radius and
a wireless MC9500 with Windows Mobile 6.1 for 802.1x authentication. I have created a Windows 2003 CA and have successfully requested a certificate from Steel-Belted Radius to the Standalone CA. However, I am having trouble creating a client authentication
user certificate. When I launch the MMC and select Certificate Template, I am able to see Authenticated Session and User template. However, when I try to request a user certificate using
http://<IP address of standalone CA>/certsrv I do not see the user certificate option under the Select the certificate type: prompt. Do I need Windows 2003 Enterprise or DataCenter server to do this? Do I need to be an Enterprise
CA rather than a standalone CA? What are the steps to create a user certificate using Windows 2003 Server and a stanalone CA?
Thanks for your help in advance!
