How do i create Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) between windows server 2008 R2 64bit and windows 7 64bit
Hay friends,
I want to surf the internet in windows 7 thru windows server 2008.
I have windows server 2008 R2 64bit installed in one computer and windows 7 ultimate 64bit installed on the other.
I want that in the computer with windows 7 installed, to be connected to the internet thru the windows server 2008 internet connection.
Now I know I have the solution call ICS- but the thing is- I can't manage that, because my windows 7 cant connect thru the windows
server 2008 internet connection, and I cant get it to work!
So, my final questions is:
How do I manage ICS in windows server 2008 64bit and windows 7 ultimate 64bit to work correctly?
How do I manage ICS in windows 7 ultimate 64bit thru window server 2008 R2 64bit ?
Thanks,
Rami

Before explaining, please note that using a basic router/firewall is much more secure, simpler to configure, and more flexible. Also note that ICS will change the
LAN IP addressing which can affect your entire existing network.
To make use of ICS you will need two network adapters installed on the server. One is configured for the LAN and one configured for the Internet connection. Make sure
you have the Windows firewall enabled on the server, at least on the WAN connection,
if you are not using a perimeter firewall. Once the Internet connection is working open TCP/IP properties for the WAN NIC, and under the sharing tab check “allow other users to connect through this connection”. This will
allow the Internet connection to be shared, set the LAN IP to 192.168.0.1, enable DHCP, and routing. Install a switch between the server’s LAN port and the PC’s. Make sure the PC’s are using DHCP and reboot the PCs to connect to, and obtain
an IP from the server.
The following is a more detailed article for server 2003, but the process is the same.

You cannot enable ICS if you have only one NIC on the server, or if group policy has been set to disallow. You also cannot enable ICS on Small Business Server versions
