How do I install GUI Windows Server 2012 from Server Core Command Box?

Hi -

I would appreciate help on this topic (I am a home user evaluating Windows Server 2012).

I have installed Windows Server 2012, but I have accidentally selected the default option 'Server Core' instead of the 'Server with GUI' option when installing. Now, after installation, I am left with a command box.

Entering SConfigure gives me a list of options, but none of them are related to installing GUI.

How do I go about installing GUI?

Thanks very much

Kimberley

Hi Kimberley,

We can refer to the steps in the following articles or run the PowerShell script.

Use this cmdlet
Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra, Server-Gui-Shell -Source:wim:D:\sources\install.wim:2

where D:\ is your DVD or other source of installation files.

Thanks - I found the easiest way was to just unistall and reinstall the server with GUI.
