How do I delete a Windows 2008 DC that has died?
I have a windows server 2008 DC (NOT Operation Master) that has gone bad - unfixable, fried! How do clean it up in AD to remove any linkage. Thank you for your help in advance, Moron.

Hi Moron, you can use the Ntdsutil.exe utility to manually remove the NTDS Settings object. Please check "How to remove data in Active Directory after an unsuccessful domain controller demotion" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216498 How to remove orphaned domains from Active Directory http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;230306 Clean up server metadata http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736378%28WS.10%29.aspx Give it time to replicate through your environment. There will be an empty server object in AD Sites & Services which you can delete. If there's a computer account left over you can delete that as well.

Thanks again JM and M. Fawzi!!!! It worked out well. I learned how to do this through command line as well as through gui using active directory users and computer in 2008.
