How Complex Password can be Disabled
Hi, everyoneI am new to this forum, but has been in networking since 4 years on Windows 2000 and 2003.Now while implementing Windows 2008 i need some help in Disabling the complex password requirment which normally in Windows 2000 Server we use to do by using Local Security policy.Thank to all who can help me out.RgdsAlialimoosavi7@rediffmail.com

You can still do this through the Local Security Policy in Windows Server 2008. Here's how: Click start and type gpedit.msc to open the Policy Editor Open Computer Configuration (left hand pane) Open Windows Settings (left hand pane) Open Security Settings (left hand pane) Open Account Policies (left hand pane) Open Password Policy (left hand pane) Doubleclick on the Password must meet complexity requirements Select Disabled Press OK Close the Policy Editor Run gpupdate.exe If the setting is enabled and greyed out, it means your Windows Server 2008 box is member of a domain and you need to address this issue in Group Policies or in the Local policy of your Domain Controllers. This is explained on the explanation tab of the policy. Note: In a Windows Server 2008 domain you can set password policieson theOrganizational Unit (OU) level. This functionality is called fine-grained password policies.
