Has anyone created a custom search front end to drive property based searches?

Hi,

We are looking at implementing SharePoint Online. One of the challenges I've been asked to look into is creating a custom UI so that people can search based on defined metadata.

1) i.e. navigate to a search page

2) select the required technologies (a drop down or multi select) from an existing sharepoint list

3) enter some text (searchbox)

4) display results

Now I know I could achieve this using the string: /search/Pages/results.aspx?k=Description%3AHello

however I'm not sure as to how to build the data selection pieces and pass them onto the search results.aspx

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Can you think about reusing the advanced search webpart? there in the properties, you can add your own refiner properties and in that way user can selecct those via drop down and make a search...
