Harddrive offline - cannot reactivate
I am running Windows Server 2000, and my server was restarted after a patch was applied. When it restarted, the D-drive showed in Disk Management as Disk1 Dynamic Offline. When I tried to Reactivate Disk, I get the following error "Internal Error - No valid disk found containing disk group".I had write errors to this drive before shutdown, but do not have any hardware lights on, nor any errors on the drive or Raid controller.Does anyone know how I can bring this drive back online? When I researched this online I see "This issue occurs when the DisketID in the LDM header doesn't match what's listed in the database." In another post I found the following: "if you're using the native dynamic disk feature implemented in W2K3, youshould open a CMD shell and run dmdiag -v.This tool is part of the Support Tools, you could find them on any W2K3 CDin the Support folder.Dmdiag doesn't fix anything, it simply reads data from the private region ofthe disk. There's a MS internal tool named dmpss.exe which could perform maintenancetasks on the private disk region. This tool isn't public, not well documented and does require cryptic inputs,so you SHOULD involve MS Support to help you with this issue."
