Hi, Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following information: Is it a domain environment? Is the Window Server 2008 computer the FTP server? Or do you attempt to access an external FTP server in the Internet? Do you enable ICS on the Window Server 2008 computer for the Guest OS to connect to the Internet? Are you using the same credential to access the FTP server? What error message is received when you try to access the FTP site from the Windows XP machine? Can you access the FTP server on the ICS server? I suggest performing the following actions to troubleshoot the issue: 1. On the Windows XP machine, ping the FTP server and verify that it can receive the reply. If the ping fails, it could be a networking issue. 2. On the Windows XP machine, open Command Prompt and type the command ipconfig /all, and then verify that it can get a IP address that is in the 192.168.0.x/255.255.255.0 IP subnet. If it does not get the correct IP address, it could be a ICS issue. 3. Please perform the FTP test with different IE settings so that we can identify if the problem is related with Active or Passive mode FTP. You may do this test on the Windows 2000/XP workstations: a. Check 'Enable folder view for FTP site' option; uncheck 'Use Passive FTP' option (The IE will work in Active mode FTP) b. Uncheck 'Enable folder view for FTP site' option; check 'Use Passive FTP' option (The IE will work in Passive mode FTP) 309816 How To Configure Internet Explorer to Use Both the FTP PORT Mode http://support.microsoft.com/?id=309816 are you able to visit the FTP site?

Hi, Based on the current situation, it should not be a security issue. To resolve the issue more efficiently, I suggest that you post the issue in the Networking related forum. The support professionals there are better equipped to assist you. For your convenience, Ive included the link of the Windows XP Networking Discussion Group website: Discussions in Networking and the Web http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web&cat=en_US_a487cdd8-fd79-4301-9813-2a2497c20996&lang=en&cr=US Thank you for your understanding.
