Guest Account Server 2003
Enabled guest account on a Server 2003 machine (no domain controller). Gave full control to the Guest userid for a folder. Guest clients get readonly access. Must have missed something.

Hello,
what about the sharre permissions? By default starting with Windows server 2003 they are set to read-only. You have allways to control share and NTFS permissions, as this is a combination where the share permissions will win, if share permissions are read-only
and NTFS permissions are Full control it will be still read-ony for the logged on user.
Personal i would not work with the guest account.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Make sure you
have proper NTFS and Share permission. Instead of Guest account, my recommendation is to create a new local account in windows 2003 server and assign permissions.

Agree.
When choose "Share this folder", the permission of sharing is set as Everyone Read-only as default.
Sometimes we will share a folder to Everyone full control and set restrict in Permission tab.
