Greyed Out Action Center Settings
Hello,
Just installed Windows 2008 Standard R2, this is a standalone install, not tied to any domain. I have not installed anything on this server except for all the Windows updates. Anyway I was trying to make some changes to my Action Center settings
when I found that all the options are greyed out. How do I unlock them? I check the local group policy and found nothing. Did a Google search and found nothing either.

Check that there is no local / domain group policy that is applied and that is blocking that.
Use rsop or gpresult to check which group policy settings are applied.

Hi,
Please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article and double check the Group Policy settings for Action Center.

The tech article you refer to only hides the icon and prevents the notification from sowing up on the desktop, but does not explain how to manage the grayed out check boxes individually in the action center. In Win7 these boxes are not grayed out and
you can select which ones you want or don't want. What is the function in Win7 that was dropped in Svr 08 R2 to allow this management?
I went to 'HKCU\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\action center\checks' but am not familiar with the values to make changes.
I can manage these check boxes in Win7, but not in Svr08R2 - why, what has changed, and how do I fix it?
I can un-gray the boxes using windows enabler, but cannot uncheck them.
Thank you.
