I can't think of any benefit to starting with 2003 AD. That link also positions you into a lot of great information from TechNet. You may also want to go to <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=518d870c-fa3e-4f6a-97f5-acaf31de6dce&DisplayLang=en> to pick up some step by step guides that are very useful. tgc

Hi, Would diffenetly go with Windows Server 2008, to get benefit of all the new features ( Active Directory new features, Network Access Protection, Terminal Servies , etc .. ) Check all the new features in AD: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/active-directory.aspx Also check my article here to know how to deploy your first DC : Setting Up Your First Domain Controller With Windows Server 2008 HTH, Tarek _____________________________Tarek Majdalani MVP -- ISA Firewalls http://www.elmajdal.net/Win2k8/

Hi, I agree with Tim and ElMajdal. Window server 2008 is the next generation of Windows server system, which has lots of new functions and features that prior editions don't have. The following article will give the Top 11 Reasons to use Windows Server 2008: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/why-upgrade.aspx In the perspective of DC functionality, windows server 2008 introduces a new feature-RODC, which is designed primarily to be deployed in a branch office environment. For more information about RODC, please refer to the following article: Step-by-Step Guide for Read-only Domain Controllers http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/library/0e8e874f-3ef4-43e6-b496-302a47101e611033.mspx?mfr=true You might also find Windows Server 2008 related information on the following site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/default.aspx Have a good day! SBS is a great solution for small environments like you have. Instead of needing to install other applications that are likely to be needed, it comes pre-packaged with e-mail, Internet connectivity, internal Web sites, remote access, support for mobile devices, file and printer sharing, backup, and restore. Besides the price being less, it is easier to get set-up. The only thing is that you will need to wait until the second half of this year. SBS 2008 is not yet available. tgc
