Folder Permissions
Hi, Here is my problem: I have a parent folder with multiple sub-folders. I need to give access to "group A" only to specific folders and restrict their access rights to the rest of the folders. How can I achieve that? I have tried setting up Group A on the parent folder level with deny permissions, then un-ticking "inherit from parent permissions" option on the child folder, but i still got no access to the child folder. The other option is to go through each child folder and add Group A as deny permissions group, which is not preferable, since I have a lot of child folders. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

you should grant for group A Traverse Folder permission on parrent folder and enable with This folder only scope. And explicity add necessary access permissions for required folders.http://www.sysadmins.lv

Hello,Add Group A to the parent folder with Read, List Folder contents and in advanced tab select this folder only..then go on each subfolder and configure your permissions as needed, that is on the subfolders, just make sure group A is not in any of the NTFS lists except for the folder that they need to have accessIsaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE
