Fine Grain Password Policy Windows Server 2008
Can you set military grade passwords using the fine Grain password policy. I would like to require a 8-12 character policy that requires Alpha A-Z a-z, number and special character to be a valid password. Not 3 of the 4 rules (all 4 rules) I would like it to never allow the same character to be in the same position in the new password. I would like it to remember the last 24 passwords. I would like it to notify the user if their new password does not match the requirements If not is there a AD app or another tool that will allow us to set these requirements Aggie Reed

Hi Aggie, I don't think these functions can be realized by using Fine Grain Password Policy. We might need to consider using some third-party military grade password tool or even hardware tool. For example: Get a military grade, secure password vault on your desktop or device with Ever Password http://www.freewaregenius.com/get-a-military-grade-secure-password-vault-on-your-desktop-or-device-with-ever-password/ Mandylion Password Manager http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/91a2/ Niko

So does anyone know if in fact the Fine grained policy does not do this? A Anyone from Microsoft want to answer this question. Someone at Microsoft must know this answer. I hate to go to a freeware product that could have hacker backdoors built into. I have look at the Mandylion product. I may have to go this route. What about Roboform products. Aggie Aggie Reed
