File and Print Sharing
Hello, Since the majority of the users in my company are also engineers they need admin rights on their computer . few users disable file and print sharing on their computer to block access to admin share. This is probably very common in other companies too. How do i turn it back on now and make sure it stays that way ?.. We are running w2k8 r2 domain and we aslo run sccm 2007 r3 (maybe sccm would help) Thanks

You should do it using registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters Name: AutoShareWks Data Type: REG_DWORD Value: 1 Note: A reboot is necessary for this to take effect. If you want the administrative shares to be re-created, change the value to 1. see this Kb http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318755 http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin
