File Synchronization between servers
I need suggestions for file synchronization.
We have three offices which we currently sync files between each night.
Do to our network speed a live sync is not feasible, and management does not want to invest the money to change this due to the present economy.
Our current setup does not allow file locking between offices.
This can be an issue when individuals in multiple offices access the same file.
Is there software that will allow file locking between servers and slow down file access?

I would recommend installing something like SharePoint Server 2010 (or
2007 which might be cheaper) as it allows users to check files in and
out. It might use a little bit in terms of WAN for the Web/WebDAV
pieces, but it will probably use less than replicating entire shares.

I think this site sums it up best.

WSS 3.0 (free) is the next best thing for colaboration, without the file replication aspect.
