File Server Disk Quota
Hi We have a Windows 2008 File Server which will be shared by 2 Teams. Drive D will be managed by Team A and Drive E will be managed by Team B. They will not have any administrative permissions on the server. All can be achieved by NTFS permissions but we want to delegate the Disk Quota Management to the teams on their respective drives i,e Team A should be able to manage Quota for drive D but cannot do anything on Drive E and Vice versa. I have tried to provide full control to the users on drives but they are not able to manage Disk Quotas. Please suggest how to achieve this.

Hello, quota are set on the server with FSRM tool and this requires more then user permissions. So set it once as admin and you should be done.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

Hi Meinolf, Thanks for the reply. I tried using FSRM tool also but there is no option to delegate Disk Quota Permission on the drives. Disk Quotas needs to be changed based on users and group so I want to delegate the task to the teams.

Hi, As far as I know, there is no way to delegate Disk Quotas management permissions. Based on the current situation, you may consider to use Group Policy to configure the Disk Quotas once. For the detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article: Configuring Disk Quotas on NTFS Volumes http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758877(v=WS.10).aspx Regards,Arthur Li TechNet Community Support
