We have a situation where we have 2 domains (1 with User accounts, 1 with File Shares.  The domain with the user accounts does not allow Trusts, but does allow federation.  Can we use federation to grant users in the first domain, NTFS permissions to the Files shares in the second domain?

I'm not quite familiar with ADFS. From my search result, ADFS is for sharing applications like SharePoint cross domain but not for sharing folders.
