FTP Windows server 2008 R2 user home folders
have existing W2K8 R2 server which primarily serves a file & print role; home folders and shared dept folders included; have been asked to setup FTP server role on same box which would support handful of domain users specifically setup to enable download of files to dept shared folders; is it possible to setup these ftp-specific user accts w/ home folders that point to the required dept shared folder, eg, \\FS1\VOL1\DEPT1?

Hi, Are you looking at Active directory user isolation for FTP? http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/b63de8ef-e3c5-456d-a8ca-7af4198819d4.mspx?mfr=true

Hello, saw reference to that but was concerned by 2 things: 1) do home folders based on acct names have to be used? also do the folders have to exist under an FTP root? our folder structure already exists and not under any FTP type heading; we want to be able to FTP into dept shared folders with names such as \\FS1\Engineering, etc, would it be possible to have an FTP user acct such as JohnDoe depositing files into a shared folder such as that just mentioned? 2) do the attributes of user objects need to be expanded? that scares in that our domain is functioning very smoothly and would rather not make such impactful changes unless absolutely necessary; thanks
