I would like to Extend the size of VM but edit option is not available, when I checked its running on AVHD snapshot.

I have shut down the machine but its not merging. Is there any work around for manual merge with the present State. I badly need to extend the VM it is out of space.

i had a similar problem like this once.

This link helped me with my issue and could help you with yours. Don't forget to make a backup of the files in case it doesn't work:

You don't need to down the VM to merge Checkpoint files. You can do the merge either in the Hyper-V Manager GUI or via the Remove-Snapshot cmdlet. See this post for more details.
