There needs to be adjacent unallocated space on the same disk. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows] Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

i have C drive and D drive. and also 1 GB unallocated space. But i could not see the extend option while select the C drive. why it is so

You may have to temporarily delete D: so that unallocated space will be adjacent to existing C: Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows] Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Let me tell one thing. MY D drive is the shared folder and has around 1 TB of data in it. its not the easy way to delete it. Please suggest some idea to extend c drive without deleting D drive.

What I described was a native method. You may be able to do this with third party tools such as this. http://www.acronis.com/products/?gclid=CIrkhPiSpLMCFQuCQgod5lYAjw Regards, Dave Patrick .... You haven't said if it is a virtual machine and if u have given it extra disk, or if its one physical drive and you are out of space. If it is a virtual machine then you go to computer management, disk management, right click disk management and choose rescan disks. Then go to your c:\ in disk management legend, right click and choose extend. Here is a link with some photos to guide, you. Hope it helps. http://www.petri.co.il/extend-disk-partition-vista-windows-server-2008.htm#
