Every friday morning Access macro stops
I have Windows Server 2008-SP2 Standard (32bit) installed on a Dell PE2600 w/5GB RAM. I use Automate (v 7.1.1.0) on this machine to process several daily/weekly/monthly tasks. Every day of the week, tasks kick off at 2:15, 3:30, & 4:45 (AM). They all initate a MS Access macro to genterate various reports. EVERY Friday morning, the one that kicks off at 3:30, launches fine, but then the macro appears to cancel out. When I log onto the server, the MS Access window is still open and the program is responsive so I just tell it to run the macro again and it completes fine...only late. I've got the windows update turned off, Symantec Endpoint Protection does live updateds every day @ 7:00PM and runs a full scan every Friday NIGHT @ 7:30PM. I checked the Windows scheduler and don't see anything launching at or around that time. I also checked log files and didn't see anything around that time that ONLY happens on Fridays. We have a small company with no server specialist, so I hope someone out there can lead me in the right direction. thanks,

If you think it is an Access issue then I'd ask them here. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/addbuz/threads or possibly here. http://forums.networkautomation.com/forum/index.cfm?forumid=1 Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]

The macros worked fine on Windows server 2003, and they work fine every day except Friday on this new server. And it works fine on Friday after I start it a second time. I think it has to do with server 2008.

hi RATMAN2009 Its a broad comment saying " I think it has to do with server 2008" , there are several components involved. first we would like to validate Macro , this forum is dedicated in handling server related issues including protocols. I would recommend you to post your query in Access forums, and if they feel the issue is related with server then we will further work on the issue.

Hi RATMAN2009, Please check if this issue still occurred with the troubleshooting steps below: 1. Open this task ,in “ general” tab, select “ run whether user is logged on or not ”. 2. In “ settings ” tab, please select “run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed ” Thanks. I'm not sure if you're referring to Automate or the generic windows task scheduler? In Automate, there isn't that option on the general tab and that's the program that I'm using to run my processes.
