Hi, The event appeared on an Windows Server 2003 server with Service Pack 2. The problem was solved after applying the VSS update rollup from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349/en-us. Hi, Try the general steps provided in this article: Various issues may occur on a Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running the Volume Shadow Copy Service http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940032 Then reboot to see if issue still exists. If so, deleted old Shadow Copies by acccessing <Drive> Properties --> Shaodow Copies --> Delete Now if available (note, snapshot will be removed with this step), reboot to see if issue persists. Meanwhile I found this article. You can try the suggestions provided: vent ID 12310 — Volume Shadow Copy Service Operations http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734239%28WS.10%29.aspx Shaon Shan| TechNet Subscriber Support in forum| If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi, Yes, I read links suggested by Shaon. But I don't have errors of a VSS unregistred. However, I registered the DLL away and I'm getting same errors. I have two VSS Providers (Microsoft & Data ONTAP VSS (from Netapp)). When I tried to make a snapshot manually, (Vssadmin create shadow /for:F:) I have some new errors: in Application log viewer: VSS id 7001 in System log viewer: VolSnap id 28. I verified, my snapshot of a share folders are not actived. Thanks you for your feed back Philippe

I have two VSS Providers (Microsoft & Data ONTAP VSS (from Netapp)). Why do you have two VSS Providers ? They may conflict. Can you uninstall one ?Edoardo Benussi - Microsoft MVP Management Infrastructure - Systems Administration https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/Profile/Benussi Windows Server Italian Forum Moderator edo[at]mvps[dot]org

Hi, Thank you for yours answers and the links. I have no current or older Vss Snapshots. There are no schedules VSS and the Shadow copies of Shared folders are turn off. About to uninstalling one, it will be difficult because the NetApp VSS is installed to manage our SAN array. The errors (Vss id 7001 and VolSnap Id 28) appears only when I tried to make a snapshoot manually. The result of a the command (vssadmin list shadows) are: "the are no match to the query" The result of the command mountvol is \\?\Volume{5d9555cd-b84b-11db-964a-806e6f6e6963}\ C:\ \\?\Volume{dc701cc3-ba70-11db-973e-0018fe7ee42c}\ D:\ \\?\Volume{a03c75bc-bb50-11db-a230-806e6f6e6963}\ Z:\ \\?\Volume{b8852e29-6896-11de-a1d0-0018fe7ee42c}\ F:\ \\?\Volume{b8852e3a-6896-11de-a1d0-0018fe7ee42c}\ H:\ \\?\Volume{0d02d31c-623b-48e0-8163-f2d1064722eb}\ J:\ I have the same errors : VSS id 12310 (Erreur du service de cliché instantané de volumes : Erreur inattendue DeviceIoControl(\\?\Volume{86e3623d-e653-4463-b1da-d861ab33e158} - 00000114,0x0053c010,00AE8008,0,00AE9010,4096,[0]) : %2 hr = %3) VolSnap id 5 (Le cliché instantané du volume I: n'a pas pu être créée par manque de pool de mémoire non paginée pour une structure d'images) and 20 (Les clichés instantanés du volume J: ont été abandonnés en raison de l'échec du calcul de l'espace libre) Thank you for your feedback.
