Since wednesday I've got some issues with my computer and I've got no idea where they come from. The first thing I noticed what at startup Avast gave an error saying the following: "avast! can't protect your mail/news (error 10049). Check to see if component (AvastSvc.exe) is not blocked by your personal firewall." A list of the problems is: Internet explorer keeps loading forever untill I shut it down, no more sound, music can't be played and when trying to open a song an error appears, movies can be played (but have no sound), league of legends can't be played couse it can't connect to maestro. Some other things worked fine. I could still update Avast, play Guild Wars, update my windows 7 ultimate. I've tried to start the computer without avast and then I don't get the error 10049 msg but all the other problems stay. Shutting down the windows firewall doesn't work. There should be no problem with the router firewall couse all other computers on the network are working fine. Is there anyone in here that knows how I can solve this problem?

You can start with below No Email Protection - error 10049 http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=27792.msg226704#msg226704 As this topic is related to Avast AV, I would suggest you to post your question in Avast Forums for definitive answers. http://forum.avast.com/~Santosh

I've posted in the Avast forum before trying the microsoft forum, but at the Avast forum I was told that it might not me an Avast related problem. When I get home I'll try the options in the post you gave and allow C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe and C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup internet access and hope that works. If that doesn't work then I'll try the repair function in the add/remove program. What bothers me most is that if Avast isn't running then I still can't use IE nor play league of legends.
