Error 07b after mainboard change
Hi Guys, I needed to swap the Mainboard on our Server 2008R2 SP1. The prior Board was an Intel Atom with NM10 Chipset and AHCI enabled. The swaped board is a Gigabyte E350N with Hudson-M1 Chipset. Short after showing the running bar I get a blue-screen: Stop 0x0000007B (0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0,0x0) Before someone make the suggestion, to disable AHCI: that's what I already did - disabled AHCI in the Bios - disabled LAN in the Bios - removed the old AHCI drivers by hand - StartRep can't fix it - sfc, fixboot etc. didn't help - no Log is written to disk (NtBtLog.txt), when selected in the start-up options - Save Mode doesn't work, either - Win 2k8R2 doesn't fall back to old drivers - when I start it with printing the DLLs at loading, it stops at classpnp.dll How can I get this machine back to working? Need urgent help. Thanks in advance, Frank

Hi, If no clue can be found, you may also contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;OfferProPhone#faq607 Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Sorry, no Dump-File available. I don't even get a NtBtLog.txt when selected in the start-up options with F8. The main problem seems to be that W2k8R2 doesn't seem to "fall back" to the generic IDE drivers. Just deactivated the installed Intel NM10 drivers (ia...) by hand in the registry with the repair console. The Bios is also still set back to IDE. Still the same: Computer starts, the running bar with "starting windows" comes up and disappears very quickly. Best regards, Frank

I already opened up an incident, the result: see above. Still trying. Why don't we have the possibility to say at startup "start with generic drivers"? I even can't get the machine in save mode going. Cheers, Frank

Hi, You may try to run a Startup Repair or use Bootrec.exe to repair the system. For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article: How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 If the issue persists, please try to perform an In-Place upgrade to repair the system. In-Place upgrade ============= 1. Start the computer. 2. Insert the Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 integrated DVD in the computer's DVD drive after Windows Server starts. 3. Select one of the following procedures: • If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the "Install now" screen appears. Click "Install now". • If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps: a. Click Start, type Drive:\setup.exe in the Search Bar, and then click OK. Note: Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive. b. Click Install now. 4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, click Upgrade to repair Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1. Note: If the Upgrade is disabled, please do not click Custom and perform the steps below to collect a screenshot for further research.
