I have a KMS system with Windows 7 Enterprise, which does the activation for Windows 7 Professional clients, office 2013 Professional & Windows Server 2012.

I am trying to install key for Windows server 2008 standard using the below command.

Slmgr /ipk xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

and I get the following error.

on a computer running Microsoft Windoes non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a0xC004F015'
to display the error test.

Hi  Taha ,

This issue may occur when we try to install an incorrect kind of key .

According to your description ,KMS is hosted on Windows 7 and you are trying to activate Windows Server 2008 Standard .Am I right ?

If yes ,Im afraid it couldnt be achieved .

A KMS that is hosted on Windows 7 can only activate client operating systems .A KMS that is hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2 can activate both client and server computers .

For detailed information ,see table 2 in the following :

If you already have the product key for WS2012 installed on KMShost, you don't need the key for WS2008 - your server will already activate WS2008.

Hi Don,

Just realized the Windows Server 2012 servers are getting key from Active Directory Activation.
