Erroe in EFI partition
I have a server running Windows 2008 R2. I am using ViceVersa software which on my other servers allows me to copy vitual hard drives while the virtual machines are live. On this server, I get an error message saying "VSS Writer Listing Failure
E-Unepected." Troubleshooting with the ViceVersa Support determined that the server has an EFI partition and that in that parition, there is the following entry that causes VIceVersa to fail "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume1\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\.
Is there a way I can edit or remove this entry? Or can I just use BIOS and remove the EFI partition?
Thanks

Hi,
The
EFI System partition is a
partition on a
data storage device that is used by machines that adhere to the
Extensible Firmware Interface. It contains the
boot loader programs for all operating systems installed (in other partitions) on the device, device driver files (used by the
firmware at boot time) for other devices, and system utility programs that are intended to be run before an
operating system is booted.[1]

By the way, you can remove the EFI partition, however, that will destroy the boot information of Windows Server 2008 R2, you need to repair
the startup with a Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 disk.

Thanks for the background information. My real question is can I edit the line (see above) that has been called an error by my software vendor. The server is only configured for EFI so I can't remove the partition.
