Enabling Microsoft Access Database Engine for SQL Server 2012

Greetings all!

I have just downloaded and installed the driver for Microsoft Access Database Engine from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255 and then installed it and restarted my server as per the instructions.  When I attempt to import data from an .accdb file into my SQL Server 2012 database using the wizard I still do not get Microsoft Access Database Engine as one of my available data sources.

Did I miss a step somewhere?  Do I need to activate this for SQL Server somewhere else?  Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

Hi Bob,

Perhaps you chose AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe and then since all the tools are 32Bit the driver is not seen.

You need AccessDatabaseEngine.exe
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

Hi Bob,

Based on my research, it always doesnt show the Microsoft Access (Microsoft Access Database Engine) as an available provider after installing Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.

To fix this issue, please download and install 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components instead from link below:
