What operating system are you using? Is the computer a member of a domain or a member of a workgroup. You need to be a domain member for smart card logon.Paul Adare

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 and there's a domain controller (i'm logging to the domain). If I understand you correctly I need to make changes to the domain user in Active Directory (assign a smart card login group) ? Where can I found it exactly?

Just having a smart card reader is not necessarily enough. You will see (if memory serves me correct) a poor graphic representing a smart card on the Windows Logon dialog dialog box (before you press Control Alt Delete)You will only see PIN entry when you insert a smart card in the smart card reader (subject to have the correct smart card drivers/middleware installed)Brian

yes, you probably don't have a correct CSP - Certificate Support Provider module installed or your Smart Card service is not running. Try using CERTUTIL on the affected workstation (install ADMINPAK.MSI) with both the reader and card inserted:certutil -scinfo and post here the results.ondrej.
