Electricity Instability Problems
Hello,
I have server running Windows 2008 Server R2 at a customer which serves around 70 client computers(with Active Directory), some are running Windows Vista Business and others Windows 7 Professional. At the site of the implementation we have a lot of electricity instability problems. The light goes off several times a day, the UPSs' start but often both the client computers and the server go down due to lack of power.
I have a general concern regarding the issues that this situation might instigate. Even when the power is on we have started to feel instability with several services running on the network? Can we assume that the sudden power cuttages are affecting the server and the client computers at other levels? Is it plausible to think we can manage the situation assuming the electricity problems persist?
Thank you very much for your help

What i gathered from your post is that you are wondering if power can effect different services other than just shutting down a server and how can you manage such an enviroment.First you want to look at your UPS watts and make sure you have enough to run all services for 15mins +. if not start there.Have you tested your UPS batteries to make sure they are still good?Does your UPS support shutdown of the devices if it detects a power outage over x mins? One thing i can tell you is if you have a server running and it keeps getting turned off with out a gracefull shut down, at some point you will get OS corruption. Whether its AD or Exchange something will fail. Power outages depending on the type, brownouts, surges ect. can effect the PC's and servers in different ways:OS CorruptionServices will stop respondingserver hardware could fail - power supplies ect.
