EFS
Hi I was reading this from someonewhere "When planning a network installation, keep in mind that EFS does take up additional processing overhead, and plan to incorporate additional CPU processing power in your plans." and i was wondering if when a file or folder is encrypted using efs does it have an affect on the operating systems performance? Thanks

Yes, but with a typical modern computer, it should be unoticable to the user when you are just talking about encrypting/unencrypting files here and there. Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

a lot of the performance guidance is from around XP release time, hardware has advanced somewhat since then :-) here's the XP specs min hardware specs from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314865 The minimum hardware requirements for Windows XP Professional include: Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended) At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended) sure, those specs will see a EFS hit, but compare those to any PC from recent time.
