Dual NIC Setup Servert 03
I have a server running Server 2003 R2 with a dual NIUC arrangement.DHCP server running for the 10.2.x.x NIC(SN 255.0.0.0), second NIC configured to 172.17.202.1 (SN 255.255.0.0) on secured internet accessable network. Can I and how; allow a connection across the NIC's for a single IP address from NIC 2, to NIC1 without creating a routing issue on the DHCP server side? Scope 10.2.0.10 - 10.2.255.254. Any suggestions on configuration would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hello, Use Windows RRAS to route traffic between the two subnets. The DHCP will not traverse the subnets. CheersMiguel Fra / Falcon IT Services Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase and Support Sharepoint Site

You can enable RRAS or IPForwarding on the server. RRAS will allow you not only to route packets accross the interfaces, but also create the necessary rules to filter the traffic. IPForwarding is a much simplier approach which will allow all packets to be forwarded accross the interfaces. Visit anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base. Follow me on Facebook.

Hello, you have to enable RRAS like JM already mentioned. Using its snap-in, you can add routes and filter access of users (On 2008 / 2008 R2 servers, you can use the local NPS policy). For DHCP, don't worry for it as there is no conflits. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. There is no need to create two threads for the same problem on the same forum.
