Domain rename
Hello,I want to perform a domain rename operation in a domain with Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 DCs.There is an exchange 2000 sp3 server in the domain. Because Exchange 2000 is not supported in the domain rename operation, I'm thinking about upgrading the Exchange 2000 sp3 server to Exchange 2003 SP1.There are alsosome SQL 2005 and 2000 servers, I didn't see any issues while doing my research about the domain rename related to SQL, in fact, they are not mentioned in any technet documentation. When all is ready, I'll perform the domain rename with the "rendom.exe", "gpfixup.exe"and "xdr-fixup.exe" tools.Of course, I'll set up a lab where I'll try the operation.Did anyone had the same situation? Will the upgraded Exchange server likely to cause problems? Will the SQL servers will cause problems? Many thanks.

Hi The domain rename procedure has not been extensively tested in large installations. Microsoft cannot guarantee that everything will function well after changing the domain name. Please perform complete backup for your domain first and use the method at your own risk. 2). No matter which method you will finally use, please perform a complete backup for your domain first. Generally speaking, we have two options to rename a domain: 1. Use RenDom to rename domain 2.
