What do you find works best - or does not work - as a naming scheme for the servers and workstations in your Active Directory domain?I've always favoured function-related names for servers (DC1,SQL1).For workstations I tend towards a naming scheme that identifies the department and principal user (e.g. Department Code-Initials) for most machines, and one which identifies department and area or group of users for shared machines (e.g. Department Code-Office-Sequential number). What do you use?

I have always found just naming my clients by incrimental names like (Companyinitials)(Number 1000 and on going)I then name each computer in my ad under description in order to sort them out later.One reason is thats its simple, another is security, if you had a potential hacker, he/she would properly go for the CEO10 computer :)Just my 0,05 centsBest Mads
