Domain Controller Cleanup
1 domain on a single site2003 native mode3 DCs with 1 - 2003 and 2 - 2008Highly secured environmentSituation:I have inherited a role as AD admin quite unexpectedly and I have a lot of clean up to do. Right now the most pressing issues are the DCs take in excess of 30 minutes to shutdown and during that process all domain computers authenticating with that rebooting DC fail to "switch" to another available DC unless they are rebooted as well. One item that appeared to help was clear virtual memory on shutdown was enabled via GP. Shutdown is still taking a long time. There do not appear to be any critical errors in the event logs on the DCs and on the clients/servers I just see thatan error that the domain is unavailable.I can afford zero down time. What are some things I could check that could be causing this?If tools or cmd is recommended, what outputred flags should I look for?

Hi There,Thank you for posting in winodws server forums, I guess there are mulitiple issues involved in your setup ."Right now the most pressing issues are the DCs take in excess of 30 minutes to shutdown " you need to check the root cause of the issue. For which i would check for the following a) Logoff scripts if any b) How are your DNS servers configured ?c) This might be cause due to some of the threads of the applications which are taking long time to close Hardware End=========a) what is the page file you have set ?b) what is the RAM your system is using ?c) Are there any problems during logging on ?
