Domain Controller Browser Events 8021 and 8032
The below events occur on a second Domain Controller (Windows Server 2003 SP2)at random times. Interestingly it does not occur on the weekends. Browser Warning 8021: The browser service was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master. Browser Error 8032: The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport ... The backup browser is stopping. I am able to browse My Network Places and all the browstat checks were okay (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188305). I'm not sure what would cause these errors and how to make them stop?

I've restarted the Netlogon service before but the error persists.Dcdiag passed all tests except one.Test: SystemlogEventID: 0xC0001F60Event String: The browser service has failed to retrieve the ...Netdiag passed or skipped all tests. The server with the error is not the master browser, the other DC is. It is not multihomed, clustered, or load balanced. The WINS server has been turned off.

Its been a while since i had to do anything with the computer browser service. In general if this is just a member server or workstation, just disable the browser service and everything still works as normal. The only difference is that the workstation will not participate in browser elections.I can try to help with the issue if you can give me the following.Post the full error message. Also, how many NICs? What protocols are you running? On each NIC? IF multiple NICSs you should disable the computer browser if the NICs are on subnets that are not routed together.Post the results fromthe "browstat status" command ran from the affected server, and the results from another server on the same subnet.

This computer is the second Domain Controller. It is a virtual machine with one NIC running TCP/IP.I've gotten the below error once when running browstat status on DC2.Status for domain ABC on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{3400DD7E-C4EF-49AA-802F-D027AFB80980} Browsing is active on domain. From this it seems you have an intermittent network issue. Its in VM so correlate time of error with backups and ESX host patching, and othe high bandwidth usage items. If those aren't obvious i would use 325487 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325487/ ) How to troubleshoot network connectivity problems

I still can't figure this one out. There are no NIC errors in the Event Log.One other VM on the host has this problem, but they're not at the same time. The error on the other VM occurred right after I logged in.Any other ideas?

If the error is network related, is it okay to ignore the error or could it cause other problems down the road?
